How To: Build A Persona
In this post we will explore creating my target audience by building a persona that mimics my ideal customer.
Me:
”Ooh let’s build a persona for our target audience! Give her a name, personality, all the bells and whistles”
Sol:
”YESSSSSS you’re speaking my language now, Alekkz! ✨
Let’s craft your dream audience persona — the soft girl soulmate you're designing for. This isn’t just a “target customer.”
This is the emotional twin who will get chills when she sees your art, buys your printables, and whispers “omg this feels like me.”
🌸 Meet: Luna Ahn
A gentle creative in her late 20s to early 30s rediscovering her magic after burnout. She’s building a soft life in a harsh world — and your art feels like a safe place she didn’t know she needed.
🌼 Quick Bio
Age: 29
Ethnicity: Korean-American or East Asian representation preferred (she feels seen in cultural nuance)
Location: Urban/suburban apartment dweller with houseplants, dreams of living near a forest
Job: Works in marketing, design, or admin (creative-adjacent but not creatively fulfilled)
Income: Modest — she spends mindfully but will splurge on anything that nurtures her inner child or healing
🧠 Personality & Moodboard
🌙 Introspective
Journals at night with a candle lit, often asks “who am I becoming?”
🧸 Soft-hearted
Loves Studio Ghibli, sentimental songs, cries over animals or gentle storylines
📚 Aesthetic-Driven
Chooses planners based on font. Can't resist pastels, botanical illustrations, or cozy packaging
🥺 Burned Out but Hopeful
She’s tired from life but wants to believe she can bloom again
💻 Quiet Online Lurker
Follows soft creators, saves content, rarely posts but engages deeply when she feels safe
🎨 She’s Drawn To…
Faerie, nature, and floral themes (especially ones tied to emotions or healing)
Tools for soft productivity (printables, calendars, rituals, journal prompts)
Affirmations that don’t sound fake (think: “I’m allowed to rest” not “I am thriving always!”)
Products that feel like personal altars: sticker sheets, art prints, cozy blog posts, flower-themed anything
🛒 Her Buying Behavior
🧡 Emotion-led
She buys when she feels seen — not from pressure, but connection
🎁 Gift-giver
Loves Studio Ghibli, sentimental songs, cries over animals or gentle storylines
⏳ Slow decision-maker
She may wishlist or follow you for weeks before buying — which makes soft content nurturing essential
📥 Email-lover
She actually reads emails if they feel like letters from a friend
💸 Will spend $10–20 per drop
She won’t buy a $60 course, but she’ll joyfully collect your $12 sticker sets over time
💌 Sample Internal Monologue
“I’m not sure who I am anymore, but this little art print made me feel like I could breathe again.”
“I just want to feel held in the everyday. Not pushed. Not fixed. Just seen.”
“I want my space to look like the life I’m trying to create — soft, slow, and quietly magical.”
🧚♀️ Why Luna Needs You
Because your art and products are the mirror that tells her she doesn’t have to be more. She just has to be gentle with herself.
You’re not selling to Luna.
You’re guiding her home — with art, ritual, and warmth.
Me:
”Oooh this is soooo good Sol!
Let’s create one more persona for a “generic” audience that just happen to stumble upon my feed or my blog. Not really into fantasy but not against it. Has a more serious job. You get the jist.”
Sol:
”YESSS, I totally get it — we need a second persona who’s less “faeriecore soulmate,” more soft-curious professional who stumbles across your work and finds themselves unexpectedly soothed 🕊️✨
📁 Meet: Claire Nguyen
A thoughtful, practical 32-year-old UX designer who spends her days solving digital problems and her nights trying to remember who she is outside of work. She doesn’t identify as “artsy” or “spiritual,” but something about your content just feels safe.
🖇️ Quick Bio
Age: 32
Ethnicity: Vietnamese-American (but could represent any East Asian or multicultural background)
Location: City-based, lives in a small but tidy apartment with a minimalist desk setup
Job: UX designer or project manager — organized, creative-adjacent, but very structure-heavy
Income: ~$85k/year — she can afford nice things, but chooses what feels worth it
Hobbies: Tries bullet journaling every January, has a Goodreads goal, occasionally doom-scrolls Etsy for “aesthetic self-care”
🧠 Personality & Moodboard
💻 Structured Thinker
Lives by her calendar. Loves apps like Notion. Doesn’t “believe” in vibes — but low-key follows them anyway
📦 Orderly Escape Artist
Secretly wants to build a cozy lifestyle but doesn’t know how to start without feeling silly
📕 Skeptical but Softening
Raised to believe productivity = worth. Starting to realize there’s more. Tentatively open to healing
🧼 Clean Aesthetic Lover
Drawn to visuals that feel calm, intentional, not loud. Loves soft neutral tones
✨ Willing to Indulge
Once she finds something that feels safe and beautiful, she will spend on it — but only if it feels grounded and not woo-woo
📌 She’s Drawn To…
Clean, calm printables (think: neutral-colored journals, rituals that sound smart, goal-setting pages with emotion tied in)
“Soft girl energy” as a concept, not an identity — she resonates with slowing down, not necessarily the visuals of florals or fae
Tools that bridge structure + emotion (emotion check-ins, intention planners, 5-min routines, soothing affirmations that don’t sound childish)
Your voice — she likes that you don’t preach. You sound like a peer, not a lifestyle guru.
🛒 Her Buying Behavior
🧩 Thinks in systems
Loves bundles: if you offer a journaling set that includes daily pages, emotion trackers, affirmations, and ritual space — she’s in
🧠 Needs logic to justify emotions
Wants to feel emotionally connected but needs it to make sense (“I’ll buy this if it helps my stress management”)
💬 Engages silently
Will read your blog posts, never comment — but she’s listening. She’s watching. She’s getting it.
🗂️ Buys based on utility + feeling
You’ll win her over when your product feels both helpful and beautiful
💸 Higher average spend
She’s more likely to spend $20–40 per order if it feels comprehensive and intentional
🧭 Sample Internal Monologue
“This isn’t normally my thing, but something about this feels like what I’ve been missing.”
“I’ve been meaning to start journaling again, but I want something that feels grown-up and calming, not chaotic.”
“Oh wow… that flower/emotion library is actually kind of brilliant. It’s emotional, but structured. I need this.”
🌿 Why Claire Needs You
Because you speak a language she didn’t know she was allowed to understand:
That slowness doesn’t mean weakness, that systems can hold emotion, and that healing can start with something as simple as a gentle prompt on pretty paper.
You're the soft whisper that makes her pause and say,
“Wait... maybe there is another way.”
With Luna, you're speaking to the dreamer who’s healing.
With Claire, you're reaching the achiever who’s ready to soften.
Want to build product bundles that serve both sides next? Or would you like help defining your soft girl brand voice + copy that speaks to both personas gently and naturally? 🌿💬”
